1.7 Diving into the 4 steps of Personal Branding

A brand built without a sequence is a brand that won't compound.

There are four steps. Skipping any of them undoes the others.

The architecture of building a Personal Brand can be condensed into four phases that form the acronym RISE. Reflect, where you discover what you already are. Imagine, where you create the external identity that makes your value visible. Share, where you communicate it across every touchpoint. Expand, where you scale and adapt so the brand grows with you over time.

The order matters. Reflection without communication produces clarity that nobody sees. Communication without reflection produces noise that doesn't compound. Each phase makes the next one work. Most people skip Reflect because it feels slow, then wonder why their content lands flat. The slowness is the point.

The four steps every brand needs to move through:

  • Reflect, discovering values, strengths, passions, purpose, and Unique Value Proposition
  • Imagine, translating internal clarity into a visible identity built for an audience
  • Share, communicating consistently across LinkedIn, in person, in voice, and in body
  • Expand, growing reach and adapting as your brand evolves with your career
